Notes:

  • The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Negros Island Region measures price changes in all items households typically consume relative to the baseline year. The collection of data for the CPI is done through the Retail Price Survey.1 *This series covers the provinces of Negros Oriental, Negros Occidental, and Siquijor.
  • The Negros Island Region (NIR) was first established in 2015 when former President Benigno Aquino III signed Executive Order No. 183, s. 2015 merging two provinces of Negros Oriental and Negros Occidental into its own region separated from Region VII.2 Former President Duterte later signed Executive Order No. 38, s. 2017 abolishing the NIR.3 In 2024, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed into law Republic Act No. 12000 re-establishing NIR which now includes Siquijor.4 There is a pending Petition for Declaratory Relief and Prohibition filed before the Supreme Court questioning the constitutionality of RA 12000.5 The PSA has maintained New Geographic Codes and Old Geographic Codes including the changes with respect to the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao.
