Notes: The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for Bottom 30% Income Households measures the change in average retail prices of goods and services purchased by families in the lowest 30% income bracket, relative to a base year. This specialized index was introduced in 2000 to monitor the welfare and purchasing power of lower-income households. The current series uses 2018 as the base year, synchronized with other CPI indices.1
