Notes:

  • The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for Information and Communication in the National Capital Region (NCR) measures price changes in goods and services for ICT relative to the baseline year. The collection of data for the CPI is done through the Retail Price Survey.1 Information and Communication covers information and communication equipment, software and ICT-related services. Video games are covered in another series (Recreation, Sport and Culture).

  • The major commodity grouping of CPI is based on the 2020 Philippine Classification of Individual Consumption According to Purpose (PCOICOP). This is a standard classification of individual consumption expenditures patterned after the one set by the United Nations. In the 2020 PCOICOP, information and communication (Division 08) covers three groups: 1) information and communication equipment (e.g., phones, computers), 2) software excluding games (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft), and 3) information and communication services (e.g., pre- and post-paid subscriptions, streaming subscriptions).2
