Notes:

  • The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for Restaurants and Accommodation Services in the National Capital Region (NCR) measures price changes in goods and services offered by restaurants and accommodation establishments relative to the baseline year. The collection of data for the CPI is done through the Retail Price Survey.1 Restaurants and Accommodation Services covers the food and beverage serving services provided by restaurants, cafés and related establishments. This also covers the other services provided by accommodation establishments such as hotels and dormitories, if not invoiced separately.

  • The major commodity grouping of CPI is based on the 2020 Philippine Classification of Individual Consumption According to Purpose (PCOICOP). This is a standard classification of individual consumption expenditures patterned after the one set by the United Nations. In the 2020 PCOICOP, restaurants and accommodation services (Division 11) covers two groups: 1) food and beverage serving services (e.g., restaurants, cafés, canteens) and 2) accommodation services (e.g., resorts, hotels).2
