Notes:

  • The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages in the National Capital Region (NCR) measures price changes in food and non-alcoholic beverages, mainly for consumption and preparation at home, relative to the baseline year. Food and beverages offered by restaurants and related establishments are covered by a separate series (Restaurants and Accommodation Services). The collection of data for the CPI is done through the Retail Price Survey.1

  • The major commodity grouping of CPI is based on the 2020 Philippine Classification of Individual Consumption According to Purpose (PCOICOP). This is a standard classification of individual consumption expenditures patterned after the one set by the United Nations. In the 2020 PCOICOP, food and non-alcoholic beverages (Division 01) covers two groups: 1) food (e.g., rice, bread, meat, vegetables) and 2) non-alcoholic beverages (e.g., juice, coffee, tea).2
