The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for Transport in the National Capital Region (NCR) measures price changes in transportation-related goods and services relative to the baseline year. The collection of data for the CPI is done through the Retail Price Survey.1 Transport covers the goods and services for the purpose of transportation.
-
The major commodity grouping of CPI is based on the 2020 Philippine Classification of Individual Consumption According to Purpose (PCOICOP). This is a standard classification of individual consumption expenditures patterned after the one set by the United Nations. In the 2020 PCOICOP, transport (Division 07) covers four groups: 1) purchase of vehicles, 2) goods and services for the operation of personal transport equipment (e.g., helmets, tires, fuel), 3) passenger transport services (e.g., plane ticket, railway ticket, bus fare), and 4) transport services of goods (e.g., courier and parcel delivery fees).2
