The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for Furnishing, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance measures price changes in goods and services for furnishing the house or dwelling relative to the baseline year. The collection of data for the CPI is done through the Retail Price Survey.1
-
The major commodity grouping of CPI is based on the 2020 Philippine Classification of Individual Consumption According to Purpose (PCOICOP). This is a standard classification of individual consumption expenditures patterned after the one set by the United Nations. In the 2020 PCOICOP, furnishing, household equipment and routine household maintenance (Division 05) covers six groups: 1) furniture, furnishings, and loose carpets, 2) household textiles (e.g., curtains), 3) household appliances (e.g., refrigerator), 4) glassware, tableware, and household utensils, 5) tools and equipment for house and garden (e.g., water pumps, electric drills), and 6) goods and services for routine household maintenance (e.g., detergent, domestic services such as cooks and drivers).2
